About the event

The title serves two purposes, it describes the content and gently pokes fun at what can be a pompous and alienating art world. By the way, if you feel bad when you accidentally tread on a snail don’t worry ‘ there is compelling evidence to suggest that they don’t feel pain’. So the next series will be ‘ Happy Mollusks’ .

The series is borne out of the artist’s fascination with neurology following personal experience of brain surgery. Far from being gloomy it is a celebration of life and biodiversity. Searching for the tiniest of creatures that have brains and/or nervous systems it enters into the peculiar world of microorganisms and the beauty of of simplicity.

The studies are taken from scientific imaging but become works that hang between the abstract and figurative. They also embrace the way in which we see the world, literally and metaphorically. It is important that the work of the R.N.I.B is acknowledged, to this end the artist invites visitors to touch the paintings.
